About the event
Our guest speaker for the February WiSKC meeting is Elizabeth McJimsey Souder, a “recovering” attorney and organizational health consultant and coach who helps companies and leaders realign the disconnect between who they say they are, who they want to be, and how they behave. She has worked with some of Kansas City’s leading organizations as they launched, prepared for growth, prepared for expansion, addressed COVID and post-COVID related interruptions, reimagined who they were, restructured how they functioned, and rebuilt the culture in which they worked. Elizabeth also enjoys working with leaders, new managers and their teams to build trust, align and operationalize values, empower one another, and win together.
Elizabeth brings 20+ years as a corporate lawyer with some of Kansas City’s largest employers where she witnessed and experienced the relationship between an organization’s health and alignment and its success. As a collegiate and lifelong athlete, the relationship between health and performance has always been obvious. The trick was translating what she knew to be true as an athlete and an attorney into a context that impacts organizations and their leadership. The result led to the realization that radical adherence to core values aligned with goals guides and informs every action and decision of healthy and successful leaders and the organizations they lead.
Align your goals and set yourself up for success in 2024:
In this personal goal setting and activation session, we will walk through the elements of successful goal setting and structural elements to help support the successful realization of those goals in the New Year. The process tracks similar goal setting and achievement exercises I take organizations through and can easily be applied in a work setting with minor modifications.
We will touch on the following topics:
- The Discipline Equation and understanding why it is that we sometimes fail to achieve goals we set with the best of intentions.
- The importance of establishing trust in yourself and your ability to achieve the goals you set out for yourself by aligning them with your core values and behaviors.
- Identifying conflicts that might sabotage your success which often means letting go of something that is no longer serving you and embracing the idea of becoming someone who has already achieved the goal you set out for yourself.
- Clarifying the goal and creating structures to support its achievement and hold yourself accountable beginning with putting on your own oxygen mask and SPARKing success by attending to basic principles of personal health.
- And finally, celebrating success at every step along the way!
